Bring on the calories

So, our little baby is just that - a little baby. At our ultrasound last week he was measuring in the 20th percentile; we found out at my first ultrasound that he has a two-vessel umbilical cord instead of a normal three-vessel cord (meaning there is only one artery and one vein - there's supposed to be two arteries and one vein) so that might be contributing to his small-ness. Fortunately, everything else looks great and doc isn't too concerned but we'll do another growth scan in a few weeks to check his progress. We've been so blessed to have our families praying and fasting for us and our little baby that he will grow and be a healthy, fully developed baby when I deliver.

So in the meantime.... I'm pounding down the calories to give him extra nuuutrientsss (I didn't gain any weight for a couple weeks which made me nervous but this last week I gained a pound! woohoo!) My family suggested having a milkshake everyday but no one has offered to come here and make them for me yet... :)

At the end of April we went on a family campout with the Thurston's and it was a BLAST! We celebrated Emma's birthday with them.

She has been obsessed with Toy Story lately (obsessed is an understatement). So she was so excited to get Buzz and Woody and Jessie toys from Grandma and Grandpa :)

Blowing out her two year old candles!

We brought Kathleen's dog, Sadie, with us because we were babysitting (dog-sitting?) her while they were out of town. She was a champ on her very first camping trip (and probably her last) :)

The kids had fun with her too

The first weekend in May we took a short trip up to Pine with our friends and stayed in their family cabin. It's always fun to get away - even if it's only overnight!

My best friend in the whole world, Natalie, is engaged!! She came all the way down here from Utah just so we could throw her a shower (slash open house 'cuz her fiancé came and we invited guys too so technically it wasn't a real bridal shower but fabulous nonetheless.)

I couldn't be happier for her and Michael - they are perfect together!!

 Mother's Day
May 13, 2012

The night before mother's day Thomas surprised me by renting a chick flick for us to watch (after mimi went to sleep) that I thought he would never care to see but he did it for me :) And as a bonus he rubbed my feet during the movie (I had been shopping earlier that day for like 3 hours in flip flops that had ZERO cushion and I could barely walk after that). Mmmm I love a good foot rub :)

Then, sunday morning Thomas made me the BEST french toast breakfast, Emma did fabulous in church, I got to teach the beehives about temple marriage and later we had a Sunday feast at my MIL's house: it was the perfect mother's day :)

Thomas' brother has a splash pad/water playground/thing in his backyard. We went over there with all the cousins and Emma was in water heaven and I was in heaven not having to worry about her falling and drowning: win-win

We celebrated Jake's birthday at Matta's the day before his birthday and then enjoyed lemon cake and ice cream at my parent's house. Emma and Porter had fun helping blow out the candles :)

HAPPY 30th 21st B-DAY JAKE!!!

UPDATE:

1. Thomas is finishing up his finals this week and then we are off to Utah for the Nelson Family cabin trip for a week and a half!! I always look forward to the cabin - its one of my favorite vacations :) Hopefully I will be good and take lots of pictures (cross your fingers).

2. I am 31 weeks today. I realized that I have less than two months left and I can't believe how fast it's gone by! This little boy is ACTIVE - I swear sometimes it feels like he's doing backflips in there. I love feeling him move around and I'm getting so excited for when he finally gets here :)

3. Emma is growing up so much. She can officially count to ten by herself. She always starts by saying 'count with me' - one, two, three, etc. It is so cute. She is talking SO much and is stringing words together (not quite full sentences yet but close). She loves this TV show called Team Umizoomi and every morning after breakfast she asks if she can watch it. She says, "more zoomi? more zoomi?" I have a hard time resisting....

4. I love being a mom. After mother's day this month and thinking about bringing this new baby into the world soon, I've just felt so blessed and grateful to be a full-time mom. There is nothing I would rather do in the whole world than care for and raise my kids at home. It is such a rewarding experience and although at times it makes me want to rip out my hair and go cry in a corner, I can't think of anything better than being a mommy :)
